Overview

The Labour and Employee Relations Officer/Business Partner (LERO/BP) supports the development and implementation of a labour relations strategy and leads various labour relations functions including grievance administration, collective agreement interpretation, employee relations, investigations and response in support of the operational and strategic objectives.

In Short

  • Full-time position supporting labour relations strategy.
  • Provide expert advice on labour relations matters.
  • Collaborate with management and unions.
  • Lead grievance processes and workplace investigations.
  • Analyze trends in grievances and provide recommendations.
  • Deliver training on labour relations issues.
  • Participate in collective bargaining teams.
  • Support HR Business Partners in complex cases.
  • Maintain compliance with provincial laws and regulations.
  • Promote VON's goals and values in the workplace.

Requirements

  • Post-secondary degree in labour relations, law or related discipline.
  • Minimum of 5 years of labour relations experience.
  • Knowledge of employment law and collective agreements.
  • Experience in a healthcare environment preferred.
  • Strong negotiation and conflict resolution skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively.
  • Willingness to travel regularly.
  • Must have a personal vehicle and valid driver’s license.
  • Police check may be required.
