Overview

The Labour Relations Officer supports the development and implementation of a labour relations strategy and leads various labour relations functions including grievance administration, collective agreement interpretation, employee relations, investigations and response.

  • Representing the organization in grievance and arbitration hearings
  • Ensuring compliance with employment legislation and HR policies
  • Collaborating with unions and leadership teams
  • Managing confidential information responsibly
  • Conducting workplace investigations
  • Maintaining professional relationships with all stakeholders

Requirements

  • Post secondary degree in labour relations, law or related discipline
  • Minimum of 5 years of labour relations experience
  • Knowledge of the Canada Labour Code and provincial employment law
  • Experience with healthcare unions is an asset
  • Strong negotiation and mediation skills
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Ability to work independently and in a team
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office
  • Willingness to travel regularly
  • Current criminal background check required
