Senior Database Engineer - Remote

Overview

We are looking for a Senior Database Engineer (DBE) to join a team of talented Engineers from prestigious companies such as Facebook, Groupon, Netflix, and Yahoo. This role will be a member of the Database Ops & Engineering group within Zuora’s Technical Operations (TechOps) organization, which supports and scales the Zuora service and underlying infrastructures.

In Short

• Operate and automate MySQL database instances across all environments.
• Participate in design reviews to ensure data security and integrity.
• Maintain compliance with regulatory standards such as PCI and SAS70/SSAE16.
• Automate tools and processes for data growth trends and capacity forecasting.
• Execute data migrations and database upgrades during product releases.
• Oversee MySQL administration including installation, configuration, and performance tuning.
• Collaborate with Engineering groups on database changes and operational standards.
• Participate in on-call responsibilities for database and storage tiers.
• Work with Release Engineering teams to support database changes for new code deployment.
• Take part in a shared on-call rotation.

Requirements

• 7-10 years supporting database platforms for online service businesses.
• Experience in OLTP and OLAP design methodologies.
• Expertise in MySQL replication technologies.
• Fluency in horizontally scaling database infrastructures.
• Experience in designing and managing MySQL clustering.
• Strong track record in implementing automated solutions for database operations.
• Experience with on-call and customer incident investigations.
• Excellent coding skills using Python.
