The Leave Specialist is responsible for administering and managing employee leave programs while ensuring compliance with federal, state, and local regulations. This role requires a high level of attention to detail, strong communication skills, and the ability to navigate complex multi-state leave requirements.

In Short

Manage all aspects of employee leave programs, including FMLA, ADA, state-specific leave laws, Paid Family Leave (PFL), and short-term/long-term disability plans.
Serve as a subject matter expert on leave policies, guiding employees and clients through the leave process.
Complete and submit required paperwork and claims to third-party carriers.
Communicate approvals, denials, and return-to-work processes to employees and employers.
Maintain accurate records and ensure all documentation complies with leave policies and regulations.
Research and interpret state-specific leave laws, providing detailed explanations to clients and employees.
Monitor and track leave submissions, ensuring timely follow-ups on pending items.
Collaborate with HR, payroll, and other internal teams to ensure accurate leave administration.
Maintain compliance with HIPAA regulations, ensuring all sensitive information is handled confidentially.

Requirements

At least 2 years of experience in leave administration or related HR roles.
Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field.
Proficiency in HRIS systems and leave management platforms.
Strong attention to detail, excellent organizational skills, and the ability to communicate complex leave policies effectively.
