Principal Data Scientist - Remote

Overview

Smartsheet is looking for an experienced Principal Data Scientist to drive customer engagement, expansions, and retention. You will work primarily with the Customer Outcomes group and will be a part of Smartsheet's Business Intelligence team.

In Short

• Understand customer needs and design metrics to analyze product usage.
• Partner with Customer Outcomes Journey and Customer Success teams.
• Develop solution and engagement analytics for improvement opportunities.
• Leverage AI and machine learning techniques for growth opportunities.
• Complete the full analytics lifecycle from objective understanding to reporting.
• Present insights to senior stakeholders for data-driven decisions.
• Advise and lead strategy for undefined work.
• Research and incorporate machine learning models and AI-driven analytics.
• Lead team efforts to research new tools and technologies.
• Mentor and support other BI team members.

Requirements

• Advanced degree in quantitative field and 10+ years of experience.
• Exceptional analytical skills for problem solving.
• Expert in SQL and data programming languages (R/Python) and visualization tools.
• Extensive knowledge in applied AI, machine learning, and NLP analytics.
• B2B experience with strong business acumen.
• Experience operationalizing data to impact customer strategies.
• Strong track record of cross-functional partnerships.
• Expert in communicating insights and recommendations.
• Ability to learn new technologies and thrive in dynamic environments.
• Experience advising and leading analytical solutions.
