Overview

The Patient Onboarding Specialist primarily supports the patient outreach team by assisting to onboard/enroll patients onto the Shields hospital partner pharmacy program, while also assisting the benefit verification team with copay amounts and patient eligibility checks.

In Short

  • Enroll eligible patients into the pharmacy program.
  • Communicate directly with patients for enrollment.
  • Collaborate with regional leaders for proper onboarding.
  • Ensure patients are set up to receive medications without interruptions.
  • Perform test claims to verify copay amounts.
  • Verify insurance eligibility and benefits.
  • Utilize tools to identify insurance coverage.
  • Research patients' medical records for medication regimens.
  • Document outcomes of investigations clearly.
  • Participate in process improvement initiatives.

Requirements

  • Enjoy talking to patients and clinical support teams.
  • Strong computer skills and ability to navigate EMR and PDS.
  • Organized, self-motivated, and detail-oriented.
  • High integrity and dependability.
  • Experience as a Pharmacy Technician (1+ years required).
  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • National certification from PTCB preferred.
  • Willingness to obtain required licensure if needed.
