Overview

The Strategic Account Manager (SAM), SanMar Sports, plays a key role in driving growth and building long-term partnerships within the team sports market for SanMar Sports. This role requires strong communication skills, demonstrated leadership, effective planning and organization, and creative problem-solving. The SAM collaborates with the Sr. Channel Manager, inside sales, and Territory Managers to identify new business opportunities, expand market share, and support national programs. Success in this role requires a high level of self-motivation and the ability to work both independently and collaboratively, while ensuring clear communication and coordination across departments.

In Short

  • Sell SanMar’s value proposition effectively through targeted presentations and conversations with executives at the corporate level.
  • Build strong customer relationships with key executives and managers at the individual account level and corporate office.
  • Be a resource for individually owned and operated accounts on big opportunities at the local or national office level.
  • Understand the strategic goals, trends, and other impactful information relevant to the growth of the strategic account.
  • Act as the customer’s advocate to push for change and improvements to meet customer demands.
  • Negotiate, track, and implement effective incentive and other pricing and product programs.
  • Keep Salesforce up to date with key activities, meetings, communications, and related information.
  • Schedule appointments and meetings in advance, planning for multiple weeks at a time.
  • Develop impactful sales and marketing plans at the corporate level.
  • Work with sales analytics team to collect and analyze data concerning SanMar Sports account sales.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree or equivalent experience.
  • 4-6 years of related strategic or territory sales experience.
  • Travel 2-3 weeks per month primarily for meetings and presentations.
  • Must live within 30 miles of a Major International Airport.
  • Ability to build meaningful partnerships and communicate effectively.
  • Detail oriented; ability to follow-through on projects.
  • Ability to handle confidential matters with discretion.
  • A high degree of professionalism, integrity, objectivity, and service orientation.
  • Must be a leader, enthusiastic, energetic, and outgoing.
  • Exceptional organization, planning, and time-management skills.
