Overview

The HR & Payroll Manager will oversee payroll processes, manage relationships with outsourced payroll providers, and ensure compliance with UK payroll legislation while leading a small HR/Payroll team.

In Short

  • Own the relationship with outsourced payroll provider.
  • Validate payroll outputs and resolve net pay variances.
  • Produce monthly payroll and finance reports.
  • Lead and coach the HR & Payroll Admin team.
  • Oversee pensions, benefits, and expenses management.
  • Deliver statutory and annual returns.
  • Drive automation and system enhancements.
  • Work closely with People and Finance teams.
  • Ensure compliance and audit readiness.
  • Manage complex payrolls for 2,000+ employees.

Requirements

  • Proven end-to-end payroll expertise, ideally outsourced.
  • Strong knowledge of UK payroll legislation and HMRC rules.
  • Experience handling complex payroll queries.
  • Comfortable supervising a small HR/Payroll team.
  • Proficient with large payroll/HR systems like Resourcelink.
  • Intermediate–advanced Excel skills.
  • Demonstrated process improvement experience.
  • People management experience.
  • Ability to manage benefits and pensions.
  • Track record running complex payrolls.
