Head of Legal - Remote

Overview

Owner is hiring our first Head of Legal to build, scale, and lead the Legal function from the ground up. This role is foundational and will involve owning the full legal stack, including corporate, compliance, employment, IP, and litigation.

In Short

• Build and scale the Legal function as the company’s first full-time legal hire.
• Serve as strategic DRI on sensitive and high-impact legal matters.
• Partner with Product and Engineering for compliance and risk minimization.
• Design scalable systems across various legal areas.
• Lead litigation strategy end-to-end.
• Identify risk areas and build policies to mitigate them.
• Support strategic partnerships, board matters, and fundraising.
• Establish legal architecture for the next phase of scale.
• Earn trust across the organization by combining judgment with action.

Requirements

• 8–10 years of legal experience in both law firm and in-house environments.
• Experience across commercial, corporate, compliance, IP, employment, and litigation.
• Excited to design legal systems and implement processes.
• Proactive operator with a strong bias to action.
• Exceptional judgment and strategic guidance skills.
• Comfortable in fast-moving, ambiguous environments.
• Ability to partner with product and engineering teams.
• Motivated to scale the Legal team after establishing systems.
