Overview

The Senior Software Engineer will contribute to building and refining the code base that powers foundational datasets and data pipelines at Disney Entertainment & ESPN Technology, enhancing the streaming business.

In Short

• Build and maintain code for Core Data platform in Scala and Python.
• Implement software deployments for batch ingestion and stream processing.
• Collaborate with product managers and engineers to drive platform success.
• Contribute to developing best practices for software configurations.
• Ensure high operational efficiency and quality of deployments.
• Participate in agile/scrum ceremonies to improve team processes.
• Maintain detailed documentation of work and changes.
• 5+ years of software engineering experience required.
• Strong skills in Scala, Python, and SQL are essential.
• Experience with distributed systems and orchestration tools is preferred.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related field.
• 5+ years of experience in software engineering.
• Strong algorithmic problem-solving skills.
• Experience with AWS and cloud resources.
• Hands-on experience with Spark and Kafka.
• Familiarity with Data Modeling and Data Warehousing practices.
• Experience with Agile methodologies.
• Excellent analytical and communication skills.
• Master’s degree preferred.
• Experience developing APIs with GraphQL is a plus.
