Director of People - Remote

Overview

As the first dedicated People leader at Compa, you will own the full employee lifecycle and design systems for scaling the company while maintaining culture and compliance.

In Short

• Develop workforce plans aligned with company initiatives.
• Partner with recruiters to fill critical openings efficiently.
• Define global compensation bands and manage total rewards.
• Oversee HR operations, including HRIS and payroll.
• Advise on employee relations and compliance with employment law.
• Lead engagement surveys and track employee satisfaction metrics.
• Build dashboards for people analytics and present insights.
• Mentor and scale the People Ops team.
• Manage the HR tech stack and identify new tools.

Requirements

• 8–12 years in People functions at venture-backed tech companies.
• Experience in B2B SaaS is a plus.
• Proven track record of scaling from ≤ 50 to ≥ 150 employees.
• Fluent in California and multi-state employment law.
• PHR/SPHR or SHRM-SCP preferred.
• Data-driven and comfortable with compensation philosophy.
• Decisive and resilient in ambiguous environments.
• Strategic communicator with strong influencing skills.
