Overview

Zipline is seeking a senior, strategic, and highly adaptable lawyer to lead and scale legal and compliance efforts across Africa. This role sits at the intersection of compliance execution, regulatory strategy, and public-sector partnership, and will play a critical role in enabling Zipline’s growth in complex regulatory environments.

In Short

• Design, implement, scale, and continuously improve Zipline’s legal and compliance programs across Africa.
• Own compliance with U.S. government award requirements.
• Lead day-to-day compliance workstreams covering various regulations.
• Support internal investigations and audits.
• Manage litigation and disputes across African markets.
• Translate complex regulatory requirements into actionable guidance.
• Partner with internal teams for alignment on legal and compliance strategies.
• Monitor regulatory developments and advise on risks.
• Shape long-term legal and regulatory strategy in Africa.

Requirements

• Willingness to dive deep into unfamiliar issues.
• Strong judgment and decision-making skills.
• Experience with government entities and public-sector stakeholders.
• Ability to break down complex legal problems into practical solutions.
• Excellent communication skills.
• Collaborative mindset and strong organizational skills.
• Willingness to travel up to ~25% to Africa, San Francisco, and Washington, D.C.
