Senior Engineer - Remote

Overview

Wattpad is looking for a Senior Engineer to join the Core Platforms team, focusing on creating and maintaining backend platforms and systems that support millions of users globally.

In Short

• Design and maintain functionality on a large-scale distributed system.
• Write new features, tools, and services in Go and PHP.
• Improve reliability and performance of core components.
• Write unit and service tests for all code.
• Define best practices and mentor other engineers.
• Research and implement new technology for scaling.
• Advocate for tool adoption across the engineering organization.

Requirements

• 5-7+ years of experience in software development.
• Experience with monitoring distributed systems at scale.
• Skilled in Go and PHP.
• Experience with cloud platforms (AWS, GCP) for at least 3 years.
• Knowledge of Docker and container orchestration tools.
• Experience with complex codebases and thorough testing.
• Comfortable debugging systems at different stack layers.
• Ability to work independently and within a team.
• Mentoring experience with other developers.
• Technical leadership experience on initiatives involving multiple engineers.
