Wattpad’s vision is to entertain and connect the world through webnovel stories. The Head of Webnovels Legal will provide legal guidance to support Wattpad's business priorities, ensuring compliance with laws and regulations.

In Short

• Act as a key member of Wattpad’s leadership team for legal advice.
• Provide legal guidance on product features and compliance.
• Draft, review, and negotiate agreements with vendors.
• Serve as the main legal contact for the North America Ads Team.
• Support writer programs with legal guidance.
• Ensure compliance with privacy laws and safety regulations.
• Manage corporate records and governance compliance.
• Advise on employment law matters for the People Team.
• Manage legal risks while supporting business growth.
• Work within Wattpad’s contract management system as needed.

Requirements

• Lawyer called to the Bar in Ontario with 8-12 years of experience.
• Experience in privacy laws and best practices.
• Background in content moderation and trust and safety.
• Experience in policy and government relations.
• Interest in technology and corporate affairs.
• Strong drafting, analytical, and negotiation skills.
• Excellent interpersonal skills and decision-making ability.
