Overview

The Pension and Benefits (P&B) Specialist is responsible for administering employee pension and benefit programs, recommending plan changes and serving as a resource to staff and managers on related issues and ensuring accuracy of employee data.

In Short

  • Provides guidance and advice to employees regarding pension and benefits.
  • Collaborates with the Labour Relations team on collective agreements.
  • Establishes employee benefits eligibility and ensures accurate data entry.
  • Coordinates benefit enrollment forms and documentation.
  • Completes monthly audits for accuracy and integrity.
  • Monitors key performance indicators for efficiency.
  • Manages employee leave of absences and payment schedules.
  • Prepares letters for eligibility and enrollment status changes.
  • Liaises between employees and benefit carriers.

Requirements

  • Post-secondary education in Human Resources Management or related field.
  • Minimum of 3 years’ experience in administering Group Benefits plans.
  • Certified Employee Benefit Specialist (CEBS) designation is an asset.
  • Knowledge of provincial group benefits legislation.
  • Experience in a unionized or health care environment is a plus.
  • Proficiency in Windows OS and MS Office Suite.
  • SAP experience is beneficial.
  • Effective time management and organizational skills.
  • Strong judgment in decision making and conflict resolution.
  • Excellent customer service skills.
