Overview

The Human Services Enforcement Agent is responsible for performing investigative and protective services work related to child support obligations and paternity establishment, primarily operating under the Department of Health and Human Services.

In Short

  • Full-time position, Monday to Friday.
  • Located in Lewiston, ME with partial telework options.
  • Investigate and locate non-custodial parents.
  • Establish, enforce, and collect child support obligations.
  • Establish paternity for children born out of wedlock.
  • Initiate administrative collection actions.
  • Represent the department in court matters.
  • Requires a combination of education and experience in relevant fields.
  • Occasional travel may be required.
  • Pre-employment screening is mandatory.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Criminal Justice, Law Enforcement, or related field.
  • Experience in law enforcement or legal documentation.
  • Knowledge of financial audits and fraud investigations.
  • Strong investigative skills.
  • Ability to represent the department in legal settings.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
  • Must pass a fingerprint-based criminal history check.
