Overview

The Maine Department of Labor Bureau of Unemployment Compensation is seeking detail-oriented professionals to investigate possible benefit overpayments and ensure the integrity of the Unemployment Trust Fund.

In Short

• Investigate possible unemployment benefit overpayments.
• Review claims and employer-provided wage audits.
• Write unemployment eligibility determinations.
• Participate in Appeal Hearings.
• Validate identity documents for legitimacy.
• Statewide travel may be required occasionally.
• Minimum of one day per week in the office, remote work possible post-training.
• Requires fingerprint-based state and criminal history record check.

Requirements

• Baccalaureate Degree in Criminal Justice, Law, Business, or related field.
• One year experience in criminal investigation, law enforcement, forensic accounting, auditing, or related field.
• Experience in adjudication, investigations, or audits preferred.
• Experience with Unemployment Insurance Claims preferred.
• Strong oral and written presentation skills.
