Manager, Software Engineering - Remote

Overview

We’re looking for a Software Development Manager to join our engineering team and help continue building out our Percona Monitoring and Management (PMM) product. PMM is a free and open-source client/server platform for monitoring and managing the performance of SQL/NoSQL databases and servers, or cloud instances.

In Short

• Remotely build and manage a distributed team of 10 developers and testers ranging from experienced to very senior.
• Drive software delivery through championing team velocity, predictability, and accountability.
• Ensure reliable delivery by managing scope, workload, addressing blockers and resource changes.
• Develop people through coaching, mentoring, and management support.
• Conduct regular 1:1, goal-setting, and feedback conversations with direct reports to ensure team health and individual growth.
• Work with development teams, product managers, product owners, and others to maintain high levels of transparency, efficiency, collaboration and set context with the team.
• Continually find ways to improve processes and efficiencies through technology and automation.
• Strong ownership of team results, building on the good and taking corrective action on the bad.

Requirements

• 5+ years of experience leading and managing development teams.
• Experience managing an agile engineering team responsible for multiple products.
• Software Development experience is a must! Experience with Go and React preferred.
• A cross-team facilitator with the ability to improve collaboration.
• Knowledgeable about open source software.
• High level of organization with proven ability to prioritize and deliver on time.
• Excellent English communication skills, both verbal and written.
• Experience in project management with the ability to manage risks.
• Self-directed with the ability to operate independently.
• Maturity to build relationships across the organization.
