In-House Counsel - Remote

Overview

The In-house legal team at Gore Mutual is expanding. We are looking for exceptional talent to provide legal advice and insight to the claims organization. In-House Counsel will be responsible for driving casualty and/or accident benefit files to completion with claims adjusters and the in-house team. Joining our team will provide you with a unique opportunity where you will be part of an expanding in-house team. You will contribute to an evolving practice and a company that is going through an exciting transformation.

In Short

• Provide legal advice and develop strategies for driving Casualty and Accident Benefit files to timely resolution.
• Work towards timely resolution of claims from initial assignment to settlement.
• Ensure legal compliance with federal, provincial, and local laws.
• Provide proactive insight and legal guidance.
• Foster positive working relationships with support staff.
• Understand the company's purpose and values.

Requirements

• J.D. or LL.B. and called to the bar in Ontario.
• Minimum of two years’ litigation experience.
• Experience collaborating with claims teams.
• Experience conducting examinations for discovery and drafting legal documents.
• Experience attending contested motions and mediations.
• Trial experience is an asset.
