Overview

The Staff Data Engineer will be responsible for developing enterprise-wide data architecture, optimizing data pipelines, and supporting various teams with data-related technical issues.

In Short

  • Identifies and owns technical solution requirements for data architecture.
  • Creates project-specific technical designs and product selections.
  • Provides expertise on data pipeline architecture.
  • Develops product roadmaps and writes user stories.
  • Optimizes data flow and collection for cross-functional teams.
  • Implements large dataset engineering and data strategy recommendations.
  • Builds infrastructure for data extraction, transformation, and loading.
  • Works with stakeholders to resolve data-related technical issues.
  • Writes unit and integration tests for data processing code.
  • Collaborates with DevOps engineers on CI, CD, and IaC.

Requirements

  • Must pass public trust clearance through the U.S. Federal Government.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related field, or equivalent experience.
  • 8+ years of professional experience in technology or data engineering.
  • Extensive experience with data pipelines using Python, Java, and cloud technologies.
  • Experience in designing data architecture for scalability and performance.
  • Proficient in big data tools like Kafka, Spark, and Hadoop.
  • Ability to build and optimize big data pipelines and architecture.
  • Excellent analytic skills for working with unstructured datasets.
  • Experience with Agile methodology and test-driven development.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a Public Trust clearance.
