Overview

Demandbase is hiring a Staff Database Platform Engineer to lead the evolution of how we manage databases in the cloud, focusing on automation and reliability.

In Short

• Lead the evolution of cloud database management.
• Design automation and self-service frameworks for database provisioning.
• Collaborate with product teams on schema design and optimization.
• Mentor DBREs to enhance their skills in platform engineering.
• Implement observability solutions for database health.
• Support and modernize legacy database systems.
• Establish best practices for service-level databases.
• Drive automation and best practices within the DBRE team.
• Participate in incident response and postmortems.
• Evaluate architectural decisions for data technologies.

Requirements

• 10 years of experience in database reliability or cloud infrastructure.
• Strong experience with Infrastructure-as-Code and automation.
• Proficiency with cloud-managed relational and cloud-native databases.
• Experience in performance tuning and query optimization.
• Solid Linux skills and scripting abilities.
• Hands-on experience with observability stacks.
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
• Ability to mentor and influence engineering culture.
• Experience with legacy database modernization.
• Familiarity with big data/streaming systems is a plus.
