Overview

This position provides advanced administrative and technical support to an ophthalmologist in a clinical setting, including gathering medical information and performing visual screenings.

In Short

  • Perform duties of an ophthalmic assistant.
  • Conduct visual fields tests (Goldman & Humphrey).
  • Assist with patient clinical work-ups.
  • Perform gross refractions, keratometry, and tonometry.
  • Insert and remove contact lenses.
  • Assist with minor surgical procedures.
  • Work in a patient care environment.
  • Maintain confidentiality and operational efficiency.
  • Basic Life Support certification required.
  • Requires detail-oriented skills and effective communication.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Certification as a Certified Ophthalmic Assistant (COA).
  • 1 year of supervised ophthalmologic office experience.
  • Basic Life Support certification.
  • Ability to perform medical testing and screenings.
  • Detail-oriented with strong patient management skills.
  • Knowledge of medical terminology and abbreviations.
  • Effective interactive communication skills.
  • Must be able to perform essential functions of the job.
  • Driver's license not required.
