Overview

The Employee Relations Specialist is a hands-on practitioner responsible for ensuring a fair, consistent, and legally compliant workplace across a multi-state environment. This role serves as a trusted advisor to leaders and employees by managing sensitive employee relations matters, conducting prompt and neutral workplace investigations, and strengthening manager capability through practical coaching and policy guidance.

In Short

  • Serve as a primary point of contact for employee relations inquiries, concerns, and complaints.
  • Provide timely, practical guidance to leaders and HR partners on appropriate interventions.
  • Use the designated ER ticketing and case management system to log intake and actions.
  • Conduct prompt, neutral, and well-documented investigations related to workplace misconduct.
  • Coach leaders on performance management and documentation quality.
  • Partner with HR Business Partners and Operations leaders to resolve workplace issues early.
  • Support adherence to federal, state, and local employment laws.
  • Track ER themes and trends and recommend proactive interventions.
  • Support regulatory audits or external inquiries as assigned.
  • Contribute to the development of workplace policies and ER playbooks.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, Psychology, or a related field.
  • 3–5 years of employee relations experience including hands-on workplace investigations.
  • Working knowledge of employment laws and employee relations best practices.
  • Strong interviewing, documentation, analytical, written, and verbal communication skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage sensitive matters with discretion and professionalism.
  • Experience in healthcare, behavioral health, or human services environments.
  • Experience supporting multi-state or rapidly growing organizations.
