Lead Software Engineer - Remote

Overview

Brightflag is building out its Engineering team with experienced Lead Engineers to guide the next stage of growth. As Lead Software Engineer, you’ll head up a small team of backend engineers within our scrum team - coaching, supporting, and enabling them to deliver outstanding results.

In Short

• Drive high team performance by leading the small team of backend engineers.
• Have direct input into the design and refinement of the product solutions.
• Collaborate with Frontend, Backend, QA Engineers, Product and Data Science teams.
• Refine and improve Agile development processes.
• Contribute to defining product requirements and technical designs.
• Review designs and pull requests, sharing improvements.
• Work with a Java tech stack focused on the Spring Framework.
• Contribute to data modelling and reporting using the Elastic Stack.
• Support transition toward a fully automated CI/CD environment.
• Foster the growth of team members through feedback and coaching.

Requirements

• 8+ years Java programming experience.
• Prior experience leading and managing engineers.
• Highly collaborative and team-oriented.
• Pragmatic, self-motivated with a growth mindset.
• Experience with the Spring Framework.
• Strong experience in web applications and REST APIs.
• Experience in Enterprise Software development.
• Strong technical design knowledge.
• Experience designing and coding tests.
• Recommended technology improvements and best practices.
