Architect Team Lead - Remote

Overview

Avero is seeking a hands-on Architect Team Lead to guide the modernization of our platform and lead the transition from legacy systems to cloud-native applications. This role is a player/coach position where you’ll write code, build migration solutions, and set architectural direction while mentoring engineers.

In Short

• Lead the architectural design and hands-on migration of Avero’s legacy platform into cloud-native services.
• Write code and build reference implementations.
• Manage and mentor a small architecture team.
• Define and document architectural principles and modernization roadmaps.
• Collaborate with product managers to translate business needs into technical solutions.
• Evaluate and adopt modern frameworks and tools.
• Champion best practices for performance and security.
• Partner with engineering leadership on technical debt reduction.

Requirements

• 8+ years of software engineering experience, with 3+ years in a technical leadership role.
• Experience migrating legacy systems into cloud-native architectures.
• Hands-on expertise with AWS or another major cloud provider.
• Strong coding background in Java, Python, or Node.js.
• Familiarity with containerization and serverless computing.
• Experience mentoring engineers.
• Excellent communication skills in a remote-first environment.
