Overview

We are seeking a skilled and proactive Product Researcher & Coordinator to join Avalara's Product Experience team. Your primary responsibilities will include conducting user research, managing participant recruitment and gratuities for user experience research (UXR), and providing support for evaluative research efforts. This role plays a critical part in shaping the user-centered design of Avalara's SaaS solutions and ensuring that our products meet the needs of a diverse global audience.

In Short

  • Collaborate with designers, product managers, and engineers to ensure user insights guide decision-making.
  • Manage participant recruitment for research studies, including maintaining databases, outreach, scheduling, and ensuring compliance with privacy standards.
  • Administer gratuities and other participant incentives with precision and adherence to organizational guidelines.
  • Conduct a variety of user research activities, including interviews, usability testing, surveys, and contextual inquiries.
  • Serve as a backup resource for evaluative research efforts to support and scale the team’s impact.
  • Analyze and present research findings to drive actionable insights.
  • Advocate for accessibility, inclusivity, and user-centric design in all research activities.

Requirements

  • 3-5 years of experience in user research, participant recruitment, or related roles.
  • Proficiency with research tools and platforms such as UserTesting, Optimal Workshop, or Dovetail.
  • Familiarity with SaaS products and user-centered design principles.
  • Strong organizational skills with experience in participant management and incentive programs.
  • Excellent communication skills to present findings to diverse stakeholders effectively.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a cross-functional, global team environment.
  • Knowledge of WCAG 2.1 AA standards and experience with accessibility-focused research.
