Overview

Active Minds is seeking an experienced, motivated and strategic Vice President of Finance and Administration to join its team. Reporting to the Chief Operating Officer, the VP of Finance and Administration will be a key member of the leadership team charged with oversight and execution of all financial processes and procedures, and strategically leading human resources across the organization.

In Short

  • Lead all accounting and financial reporting for the organization.
  • Facilitate and help manage the accounting monthly close and reporting.
  • Report regularly to the Executive Director and Board Treasurer on financial performance.
  • Coordinate with division leads to ensure effective tracking of department finances.
  • Lead the Finance Department, providing supervision and strategic direction.
  • Oversee preparation and maintenance of reports needed for annual audit.
  • Provide proactive, creative, cross-functional thinking to enhance financial oversight.
  • Support the organization’s process for acceptance of complex gifts and assets.
  • Assist the Executive Director and Treasurer of the Board as needed.
  • Serve as primary staff liaison to the Board Finance Committee.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree or certification in finance, accounting, or related field; CPA or MBA preferred.
  • Thorough knowledge of GAAP and FASB topics as applied to nonprofits.
  • HR certification (e.g. PHR/SPHR/SHRM-CP) is a plus.
  • High level of financial and analytical skills.
  • A minimum of 10 years of relevant experience, preferably in a nonprofit environment.
  • Proven experience in senior HR role.
  • Deep knowledge of HR functions.
  • Proven track record in planning and financial management.
  • Strong interest in the mission and goals of Active Minds.
  • Must have Quickbooks experience; ERP experience a plus.
