Director of Policy - Remote

Overview

Active Minds seeks an experienced and strategic Director of Policy to lead and implement the organization’s federal policy strategy and mental health advocacy initiatives. Reporting to the Chief Program Officer, this position will manage Active Minds' federal policy and advocacy agenda, focusing on bipartisan solutions that integrate youth and young adults into mental health systems change.

• Lead the execution of Active Minds’ federal policy and advocacy agenda.
• Manage partnerships with external advocacy consultants.
• Coordinate grassroots advocacy efforts.
• Build relationships with Congressional offices and national coalitions.
• Develop and lead a team of young mental health advocates.
• Collaborate with the Chief Program Officer to identify priorities.
• Engage organizational partners to broaden support for legislative goals.
• Oversee the Trailblazers Network for young advocates.
• Design and deliver advocacy training for Active Minds members.
• Manage Active Minds’ relationship with advocacy consultants.

Requirements

• Minimum 8 years of experience in advocacy engagement.
• Proven track record of advancing legislative priorities.
• Experience in a nonprofit or youth-serving organization.
• Strong understanding of mental health policy.
• Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.
