Overview

The DRG Automation Specialist is a key member of the Clinical Automation Team responsible for reviewing medical records and code assignments to ensure accurate DRG assignment in accordance with coding regulations and guidelines.

In Short

  • Perform secondary level review of medical records and code assignment.
  • Utilize Accuity’s proprietary technology for coding error tracking.
  • Develop understanding of software capabilities and workflows.
  • Assist in onboarding new users to the technology.
  • Conduct audits and provide process improvement recommendations.
  • Engage in cross-functional meetings to align software objectives.
  • Research and respond to inquiries regarding compliance and coding.
  • Maintain confidentiality of patient medical records.
  • Adhere to project deadlines and directives.
  • Act ethically and collaboratively in all work.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED required; Associate’s Degree preferred.
  • Minimum 4 years of inpatient coding experience.
  • Minimum 2 years of related experience.
  • Coding credential required from AHIMA/AAPC.
  • Knowledge of auditing concepts and coding guidelines.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to manage confidential information.
  • Critical thinking skills for problem-solving.
  • Ability to work independently, both remotely and on-site.
  • Proficient in MS Office and electronic medical record systems.
