Overview

As a Data Platform Engineering Manager at 1Password, you will lead a team focused on building a robust and scalable foundation for data, supporting our data platform, services and tooling and products from storage to visualization for improving company-wide productivity, strategy and decision-making with data.

In Short

• Lead the design and implementation of next-generation platforms
• Responsible for architecture, POC, design, and implementation of complex systems
• Create data engineering solutions that follow software engineering platforms
• Own and architect scalable solutions with extensibility principles
• Develop and manage SLO’s, performance, and optimization opportunities
• Implement data governance structures
• Provide recommendations on cost-avoidance and optimization
• Mentor technical engineers on operationalizing data solutions
• Champion platform standards, tooling, and processes
• Manage team roles and workflows dedicated to data platform engineering

Requirements

• 3+ years of experience leading data platform engineering teams
• Experience with large-scale distributed systems in Python or Go, Scala, or Java
• Understanding of scaling, replication, consistency, and high availability
• Experience with Big Data query engines like Hive, Presto, Spark
• Technical knowledge of Cloud Platforms (AWS, GCP, Azure)
• Background in performance tuning and optimizations
• Fluent in player/coach model (hands-on programming)
