In this role you will be an important strategic advisor for the company. You will be a key member of the legal team and will partner with leaders across the company to manage corporate governance matters, SEC compliance and corporate practice of medicine and other healthcare regulatory matters. You will be responsible for establishing and maintaining a work environment focused on delivering high quality customer service and one that fosters respect, positive communication, collaboration, and teamwork.

This role reports to the Chief Legal Officer. You will be part of a collegial legal team, and will have significant exposure to core elements of the business while you operate as a trusted advisor to the company’s stakeholders. There will be significant opportunity to use your expertise in the areas of corporate governance, securities and private and public company related regulatory frameworks as you lead these critical matters for the company. You will play a key role in building a commercially-oriented culture in the legal team that works collaboratively with the rest of the organization to help keep Virta safe while it grows, prepares for a future as a public company and achieves its mission.

In Short

• Manage corporate governance and compliance with reporting obligations.
• Work with the Executive Team and Board of Directors.
• Draft and review proxy statements and annual reports.
• Provide internal training on insider trading and SEC rules.
• Partner with clinical and product teams on regulatory aspects.
• Support stock-based compensation programs and equity matters.

Requirements

• Licensed attorney in at least one U.S. state, with 5+ years of experience.
• Varied legal experience in healthcare industry.
• Expert knowledge of corporate security and public company reporting requirements.
• Strong communication skills across organizational levels.
• Excellent project management and negotiation skills.
• Positive attitude with ownership mentality.
