Overview

This role is essential in leading the internal corporate governance support for various companies, partnerships, and trusts within Mourant. You will work closely with our Chief Governance Officer and senior management.

In Short

  • Act as the lead governance representative and company secretary for internal boards.
  • Organise meetings, maintain schedules, and draft agendas.
  • Maintain director and officer responsibility lists and constitutional documents.
  • Prepare and submit filings with company registries and regulators.
  • Assist with the design of an enhanced internal governance framework.
  • Lead governance projects including corporate restructures and liquidations.
  • Support the annual audit and provide tailored inductions for new directors.
  • Proactively identify opportunities for continuous improvement.
  • Manage a diverse and complex workload in a fast-paced environment.
  • Build strong working relationships across all parts of Mourant.

Requirements

  • UK qualified corporate lawyer (Associate or Senior Associate level).
  • Experience in company secretarial or in-house governance roles.
  • Chartered Secretary or Chartered Governance Professional is advantageous.
  • Working knowledge of Document Management Systems and governance platforms.
  • Highly organised and able to manage complex workloads.
  • Maintain confidentiality and demonstrate good judgement.
  • Enthusiastic and approachable with strong interpersonal skills.
  • Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy skills.
  • Curious and inquisitive with problem-solving abilities.
  • Proactively identify opportunities for tech solutions in governance tasks.
