Senior Software Engineer - Remote

Overview

The Senior Software Engineer will lead the technical development of solutions within the Ask VA platform, ensuring high performance, reliability, and security as part of an agile team delivering value to veterans and VA personnel.

• Design, build, test, and deploy scalable software systems and APIs.
• Collaborate with architects, product managers, and designers to define requirements and technical solutions.
• Lead code reviews and maintain high code quality and engineering standards.
• Implement and maintain CI/CD pipelines for rapid and secure delivery.
• Ensure applications meet federal security, privacy, and accessibility requirements.
• Participate in troubleshooting and resolution of production issues.
• Contribute to architectural decisions and mentor junior engineers.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
• 8+ years of experience in software engineering, preferably with modern web technologies.
• Experience integrating applications with MS Dynamics.
• Expertise in languages such as JavaScript (React/Node), Python, Java, or similar.
• Strong knowledge of cloud services (AWS, Azure) and infrastructure-as-code tools.
• Experience with DevSecOps practices and CI/CD pipelines.
• Working knowledge of RESTful API development and integration.
• Familiarity with security and compliance standards, including Section 508.
• Agile team experience using tools like Git, Jira, and Jenkins.
