Supervising Attorney - Remote

Overview

The Supervising Attorney will provide direct legal support to LGBTQ asylum seekers at the US-Mexico border, focusing on immigration services and supervising a team of attorneys.

In Short

• Provide direct immigration services to LGBTQ asylum seekers.
• Supervise and coach Border Butterfly attorneys.
• Assist attorneys in communicating with immigration authorities.
• Ensure compliance with reporting and data collection.
• Participate in Border Butterfly meetings.
• Support the legal team and organization.
• Manage multiple tasks under pressure.
• Travel to San Diego and Tijuana as required.
• Work may require long hours/weekends.
• Other duties as assigned.

Requirements

• A Juris Doctor from an accredited law school.
• Two years of supervising experience.
• Admission to the bar of at least one state.
• Experience practicing immigration law.
• Fluency in Spanish and English.
• Experience with legal advocacy relating to immigration.
• Familiarity with LGBTQIA communities.
• Strong writing and legal research skills.
• Ability to work collaboratively.
• Willingness to travel and work outside regular hours.
