In Short

• Develop the Tailscale product with a focus on networking features and optimizations.
• Take ownership of the entire product lifecycle from code writing to strategic decision-making.
• Collaborate with UX/UI designers and product managers to enhance networking capabilities.
• Design, build, test, and document core networking software components.
• Diagnose and resolve complex networking issues.
• Build for observability and participate in incident response.
• Analyze and improve the efficiency and stability of networking systems.
• Bring a security-first mindset to design and implementation.

Requirements

• Significant experience with networking software.
• Deep understanding of networking concepts (IP addressing, routing, NAT traversal, VPN).
• Experience with distributed systems.
• Experience with SQL databases.
• Experience with Go is a plus.
• Ability to give and process constructive feedback.
• Flexibility to adjust to the dynamic nature of a startup.
• Excellent communication skills.
