Overview

The Nebraska Department of Banking & Finance (NDBF) is seeking a motivated, team-oriented individual interested in financial services to help fulfill its mission of making Nebraska the most trusted financial home for people and businesses.

In Short

  • Conduct examinations of Nebraska state-chartered financial institutions.
  • Assess unsafe practices and violations of law and regulation.
  • Develop recommendations for correction of deficiencies.
  • Meet with financial institution officials to discuss examination findings.
  • Prepare and submit confidential reports of examination.
  • Participate in joint examinations with federal counterparts.
  • Travel required for examinations, including overnight stays.
  • Flexibility in work schedule with approval.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's or graduate degree in business administration, finance, accounting, computer science/FinTech, or economics.
  • Minimum of six semester hours in accounting.
  • Preferred: Completion of a financial or regulatory internship.
  • Certification as Certified Examiner-In-Charge or Certified State Credit Union Examiner.
  • Knowledge of financial institution laws and examination procedures.
  • Ability to analyze and interpret financial data.
  • Effective communication skills, both oral and written.
  • Ability to work in a team setting.
  • Must possess a valid driver's license and reliable transportation.
  • Must pass a criminal background check.
