Director of People - Remote

Rockbot is a remote-first company of ~120 employees operating across 35 states and 86 cities. We’ve intentionally designed our culture and operating rhythms to support a distributed workforce - and as we grow, that design must evolve with greater rigor, clarity, and operational discipline. Operating at this scale adds both complexity and opportunity. Our people infrastructure must be as intentional and scalable as our business model.

• Design, launch, and continuously evolve a scalable performance management framework.
• Define and operationalize what high performance means at Rockbot.
• Establish clear goal-setting, feedback, and accountability rhythms across the organization.
• Partner with leaders on talent planning and performance accountability.
• Architect scalable lifecycle systems for onboarding, development, and retention.
• Strengthen HRIS and people infrastructure to ensure data accuracy.
• Define and track important people metrics.
• Translate insights into practical action plans.
• Build processes that scale from 100 to 300+ employees.
• Comfortable operating in ambiguity and raising standards.

Requirements

• 8+ years progressive HR / People experience.
• Experience building performance systems from the ground up.
• Data fluent - but not data dependent.
• Calm under pressure and direct in communication.
• Motivated by building durable infrastructure.
• Experience operating in remote or distributed environments.
