Overview

The Controller at Protege will manage the company’s financial operations, ensuring that financial systems and controls scale with the company’s growth.

In Short

• Oversee day-to-day accounting operations including accounts payable/receivable and payroll.
• Lead the monthly and quarterly close process for financial statements.
• Own financial systems and controls, improving processes and documentation.
• Manage compliance, audits, and tax filings with external partners.
• Partner with the CFO on budgeting, forecasting, and financial analysis.
• Collaborate with business leaders to align financial reporting with operational metrics.
• Prepare internal management reports and board materials.
• Support vendor management and contract reviews from a financial perspective.

Requirements

• 5–8 years of progressive accounting or finance experience, ideally in a startup or high-growth tech environment.
• Strong understanding of GAAP accounting and internal controls.
• Proficiency with QuickBooks Online and experience integrating financial tools.
• Highly organized and detail-oriented.
• Excellent communicator able to distill financial information for non-finance stakeholders.
• Proactive and resourceful in navigating ambiguity.
• Kindness and integrity in interactions with others.
