Overview

The Director of Employee Relations leads a team to provide equitable, proactive, business-focused initiatives that help build and support OHSU’s commitment to people and culture. The person in this position is responsible for developing the strategy in collaboration with the AVP, HRBP, Employee and Labor Relations, setting goals and priorities for the team, and creating accountability for equitable outcomes. This position builds partnership with the business and delivers relevant training and communication to ensure consistent application of HR practices across the organization.

  • Lead the function that provides equitable interpretation and guidance on HR policies.
  • Develop and maintain relevant policies using an equity framework.
  • Identify opportunities for diversity, equity, inclusion, and anti-oppression.
  • Manage team members and provide coaching and training.
  • Conduct employee relations training and develop supporting tools.
  • Analyze employee feedback to maintain positive relations.
  • Influence leadership on employment decision-making.
  • Provide coaching on inclusive practices.
  • Implement equitable workplace programs.
  • Track progress towards goals using HR data.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in business, HR or related field.
  • 7 years of HR experience in a represented environment.
  • Expert-level experience with employment laws.
  • Excellent organizational and leadership skills.
  • Experience in building inclusion and equity.
  • Clear communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Ability to develop an equitable workplace.
  • Excellent people management and collaboration skills.
  • Effective conflict resolution skills.
  • Experience using HR data for policy development.
