In Short

• Write high-quality code that adheres to security, reliability, and performance standards.
• Build, maintain, and scale backend services and their support tools while adhering to service level agreements (SLAs) and technical constraints.
• Consistently follow New Relic’s Engineering Standards, applying best practices and guidelines to maintain a high standard of technical excellence across all tasks.
• Deliver high quality production code that helps drive our roadmap forward.
• Consistently collaborate with the team on the execution of tasks and user stories.
• Understand the services the team owns and be able to build, deploy, and rollback services.
• Join the team’s on-call rotation driving mitigation, impact assessment, incident recovery and long help identifying and implementing long term prevention.

Requirements

• 4+ years of hands-on professional experience with distributed systems, concurrency, and scaling in a production environment.
• Strong experience in backend Java.
• Experience or familiarity with Rust programming language.
• Ability to learn, adapt and collaborate with various programming languages (Rust, Go, Javascript).
• Comfortable in a fast-paced environment focused on delivering production code at a regular cadence using Agile techniques, tools, and methodologies.
• Having a collaborative work style that includes colleagues in important decisions and leads to shared code ownership.
• Thrives in a remote team setting using strong written and oral collaboration skills using tools such as Slack and Zoom.
