Overview

NeoGenomics is looking for a Principal Scientist Algorithm Lead – Clinical NGS Diagnostics who wants to learn to continue to learn in order to allow our company to grow. This is a remote position.

• Provide end-to-end scientific and technical leadership for clinical-grade NGS diagnostic algorithms.
• Focus on oncology and liquid biopsy applications.
• Own algorithm design, analytical validation, design control, and regulatory readiness.
• Improve sensitivity, robustness, and reproducibility across complex variant classes.
• Lead development and optimization of variant calling algorithms.
• Apply probabilistic modeling and machine learning to improve algorithm performance.
• Establish rigorous approaches for validation and quality control.
• Translate algorithm behavior into clear analytical claims.
• Author and review validation reports and regulatory submissions.
• Collaborate with a team dedicated to saving lives through improved patient care.

Requirements

• PhD in Bioinformatics, Computational Biology, or related field.
• 8+ years of experience in clinical NGS diagnostics.
• Deep expertise in SNV/indel, CNV, SV, fusion, and RNA analysis.
• Experience in analytical validation and regulatory submissions.
• Hands-on experience with AI/ML methods in NGS data.
• Strong programming skills in Python and R.
• Publication record in computational genomics or NGS diagnostics.
• Experience with automated validation pipelines.
• Familiarity with payer evidence for molecular diagnostics.
