Coder Abstractor - Cardiology - Remote

Overview

The Coder Abstractor is responsible for charge capture process for professional charges within the Munson system, ensuring accurate coding and compliance with healthcare regulations.

In Short

• Responsible for verifying and analyzing medical record documentation.
• Assign diagnostic and procedural codes using established guidelines.
• Perform data entry and discrepancy resolution.
• Serve as a liaison between departments.
• Train new employees in coding and charge capture.
• Ensure coding is accurate at a 95% rate.
• Work with billing teams to ensure timely coding.
• Identify educational needs and compliance issues.
• Research and respond to coding questions.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

• Associate’s degree in Health Record Technology or related field.
• Two years of professional coding experience.
• Must obtain CPC, RHIT, or RHIA credentials within 18 months.
• OR three years of coding experience with credentials.
• OR four to five years of coding experience with credentials.
