Coder Abstractor - Neurosurgery - Remote

Overview

The Coder Abstractor is responsible for the charge capture process for professional charges within the Munson system, focusing on neurosurgery coding.

In Short

• Responsible for verifying and analyzing medical record documentation.
• Assign diagnostic and procedural codes using established guidelines.
• Perform data entry and discrepancy resolution.
• Review office-based electronic charges for accuracy.
• Work with the central billing team to ensure timely coding.
• Identify educational needs and compliance issues.
• Serve as an expert resource for coding questions.
• Maintain education appropriate to the position.
• Must have at least two years of neurosurgery coding experience.
• Eligible for a sign-on bonus of $5,000.

Requirements

• Associate’s degree in Health Record Technology or related field.
• Two years of professional coding experience and obtain CPC, RHIT, or RHIA within 18 months.
• OR three years of professional coding experience with CPC, RHIT, or RHIA.
• OR four to five years of professional coding experience with CPC, RHIT, or RHIA within 18 months.
