The Data Protection Director at Monzo plays a critical role in ensuring compliance with data privacy laws and regulations while promoting a culture of data protection within the organization.

In Short

• Lead and implement Monzo's data protection program.
• Ensure compliance with UK GDPR and other privacy legislation.
• Build and maintain relationships with stakeholders.
• Oversee the 1st line data protection team.
• Design and implement policies related to data privacy.
• Conduct data protection impact assessments (DPIAs).
• Provide advice on data protection compliance for new products.
• Manage data subject access requests (DSARs).
• Promote a culture of data protection across the organization.
• Work closely with senior stakeholders to set strategic objectives.

Requirements

• Extensive experience in data protection, ideally in fintech/banking.
• Knowledge of UK and EU GDPR and international data protection laws.
• Experience in leading data protection teams.
• Excellent communication skills.
• Ability to work with senior stakeholders.
• Desirable: data protection and/or privacy certification (CIPP, CIPT, CIPM).
