Remote Outpatient Auditor Medical Coder

Overview

Cook County Hospital is seeking an experienced Remote Outpatient Auditor to join our team in a full-time contract capacity. This role focuses on reviewing outpatient medical records and clinical documentation to ensure accurate code assignment and improve provider documentation quality.

In Short

• Conduct daily professional fee quality audits for accurate coding.
• Analyze outpatient encounters for appropriate coding.
• Provide detailed audit feedback and recommendations.
• Identify documentation trends and deliver feedback.
• Educate providers on documentation best practices.
• Respond to coding inquiries from providers and coders.
• Collaborate with coding management on issues.
• Facilitate education sessions based on audit outcomes.

Requirements

• Active Coding Certification from AHIMA or AAPC.
• Associate's or Bachelor's degree in relevant field.
• Minimum of 3 years’ experience in Outpatient Professional Fee Coding.
• Strong knowledge of ICD-10-CM, CPT, E/M coding.
• Expertise in coding compliance and documentation guidelines.
• Excellent communication and analytical skills.
• Ability to work independently in a remote setting.
• Strong computer and organizational skills.
• Must be a US citizen living in the United States.
• Willingness to comply with medical information regulations.
