Overview

Michael Baker International is seeking a full-time Architectural Historian III to support our west region cultural resources group, focusing on various tasks related to architectural history and preservation.

In Short

  • Lead field surveys and photography of historic resources.
  • Conduct archival research and write architectural descriptions.
  • Evaluate historic resources for various registers.
  • Prepare technical reports and environmental documents.
  • Supervise and train junior staff.
  • Participate in business development activities.
  • Communicate effectively with clients.
  • Travel for field surveys as needed.
  • Lead project proposals and scopes of work.
  • Work in both office and field environments.

Requirements

  • Master’s degree in history or related field.
  • 8+ years of experience in architectural history.
  • Knowledge of CEQA/NEPA and related laws.
  • Ability to author technical reports.
  • Experience with preservation planning.
  • Strong research and analytical skills.
  • Excellent technical writing abilities.
  • Ability to lead and mentor a team.
  • Valid California driver’s license required.
  • Willingness to travel throughout California.
