Overview

We are seeking a full-time, experienced, mid-level Staff Architectural Historian to support Dudek clients throughout the United States with a preference to support projects in the Pacific Northwest. The successful applicant will manage and implement the evaluation and mitigation strategies for built environment resources for a wide range of projects with both private and public clients.

In Short

  • Prepare historic resource surveys, evaluations, and related technical documents in compliance with NEPA, Section 106 of the NHPA, and applicable local requirements.
  • Evaluate historic resources by considering NRHP, local-level designation criteria, and integrity requirements.
  • Ability to research, develop, and write historic context statements.
  • Delegate technical work to entry-level staff when appropriate.
  • Conduct, organize, and lead built environment fieldwork efforts.
  • Assist in assessing Section 106 effects on historic properties.
  • Have a working understanding of the Secretary of the Interiors Standards for the Treatment of Historic Properties.
  • Ability to work within report and project budgets, manage a technical report from start to finish, and meet deliverable deadlines.
  • Maintain existing client relationships and develop new ones.
  • Collaborate with marketing team and communicate qualifications to potential clients.

Requirements

  • Master’s degree in History, Architectural History, Historic Preservation, or a related field.
  • Meets the Secretary of the Interior’s Professional Qualifications Standards for architectural history.
  • A working knowledge of local, state, and federal cultural resources regulations and guidelines.
  • Strong writing and research skills.
  • Strong communication skills.
  • Ability to work as part of a team of cultural resources professionals.
  • Familiarity with preparing technical reports for Washington SEPA compliance.
  • Experience conducting property-specific research.
  • Familiarity with WISAARD and Oregon SHPO records searches.
  • Willingness to travel to project locations.
