Senior Systems Engineer – IBMi - Remote

Overview

LightEdge Solutions is looking for experienced technical individuals for our IBMi– SR Engineer position! As a part of the LightEdge Solutions team, you will be accountable for understanding client business and technical requirements, technical design based on best practices, solution implementation, documentation and communication with your team and client.

In Short

• Design, Implement and support various aspects of the IBMi (iSeries-AS/400) platform
• Maintain and deploy any required operating system upgrades and PTF installations
• Design, maintain IBM iSeries backups utilizing BRMS, FSFC, and VTL
• Expert level knowledge to setup BRMS software and enterprise tape library architecture
• Expert level knowledge to set up and configure Full System Flash Copy (FSFC)
• Knowledge of Mimix replication software, or similar software experience, is required
• Perform Tuning and Capacity planning as required for all IBM iSeries Systems/Logical Partitions
• Provide tier-3 support for operations and applications teams
• Able to support 24/7 on-call and perform basic hardware maintenance activities
• Provide technical support, training and direction to NOC staff and other team members

Requirements

• Knowledge of AS/400 system administration and troubleshooting
• Knowledge of AS400 High Availability setup, configuration and administration of MIMIX, iTerra, etc
• Experience with PowerVM and VIOS a plus for future designs
• Experience with PowerVC as well as Live partition mobility a plus
• Proficient in planning and upgrading the IBMi operating system (OS/400)
• Knowledge of network protocols and troubleshooting skills
• Skill in solving technically challenging problems involving IBMi based critical applications
• Skill in prioritizing and balancing multiple tasks
• Skill in providing excellent customer service
