Legal Counsel - Remote

Overview

KOHO is seeking a smart, motivated Legal Counsel to help the company grow and scale by supporting a broad range of legal areas with a focus on commercial work, privacy law, and regulatory matters.

In Short

• Draft, review, and negotiate commercial agreements.
• Support product and partnerships teams on structuring partnerships.
• Draft standards for contract templates and legal workflows.
• Advise on laws relevant to financial services and consumer protection.
• Manage privacy law matters and compliance policies.
• Draft terms and conditions and customer disclosures.
• Review marketing collateral and customer communications.
• Provide support to risk management initiatives.
• Work with banking, processing, and technology partners.
• Collaborate in a remote-first environment.

Requirements

• 4-6+ years of post-call experience as a lawyer in Canada.
• Strong skills in contract negotiation and drafting.
• Familiarity with privacy law and financial services regulation.
• Experience in the fintech industry or banking is a plus.
• Proactive, organized, and able to work in high ambiguity.
• Strong work ethic and growth mindset.
• Ability to operate well under pressure.
• Excellent communication skills.
• Experience in tech procurement is a plus.
• Responsive and reliable with strong ownership of work.
