The Patient Account Associate I provides extraordinary care to customers through friendly and professional service, utilizing a broad understanding of account handling processes to resolve complex issues in a timely manner.

In Short

• Identify and save appropriate payment details.
• Balance payments to deposits in systems and applications.
• Post all payments to patient accounts using electronic and manual systems.
• Research and validate payment postings and follow up accordingly.
• Post correspondence, zero payments, denials, and additional items to accounts.
• Contact payers to obtain missing payment information.
• Meet department productivity and quality goals.
• Collaborate with other teams across the organization.
• Participate in meetings and education requirements.
• Promote the mission and values of SCL Health.

Requirements

• High School diploma or equivalent required.
• Minimum of six months of revenue cycle experience required.
• One year of previous revenue cycle cash handling experience preferred.
• Vocational training/education in medical billing or medical records preferred.
• Effective oral and written communication skills.
• Ability to operate computers and office equipment.
• High attention to detail and accuracy.
• Ability to remain seated or standing for long periods.
• Capability to lift and transport objects as needed.
• Strong problem-solving skills.
